UJAGAR SINGH
S. Ujagar
Singh was born in 1934 at Quetta (now in Pakistan). His mother,
Sardarni Parbati Kaur was known for her generosity and father,
S. Nanak Singh was an honest officer (civilian) in the Ordnance
unit of the Defence.
S. Ujagar
Singh adopted social work as a hobby from the very beginning.
In view of his capabilities, he was made the General Secretary
during his Matriculation from Khalsa High School, Calcutta.
After his
father's transfer, the family shifted to Agra where S. Ujagar
Singh continued his social activities and founded Kalgidhar Sewak
Jatha - one of the promoting social -cum-religious organisations
of the Sikh Panth.
After his
father's retirement, the family settled in Kanpur. During his
graduation from D.A.V. Collage, S. Ujagar Singh was actively engaged
in A.I.S.S.F.
S. Ujagar
Singh started his career in 1954 as M.E.S. contractor. Inspite
of his busy schedule of business activities, like contractorship
, transporter, coal and T.V. distribution, finance and export
etc. S Ujagar Singh kept himself actively involved in Singh Sabha
Vidyak Society, Chief Khalsa Diwan hospital and school organisation.
He joined
Chief Khalsa Diwan in 1976 and served as Vice
President of the hospital. He was the Founder
Secretary and later on President
of Guru Nanak Modern School (Chief Khalsa Diwan) at
Kanpur.
S. Ujagar
Singh shifted to Jalandhar after the 1984 riots. Despite new set
up of life, S. Ujagar Singh was closely associated with Late Bhai
Sahib Bhai Jasbir Singh Ji Khalsa (Veerji), Baba Iqbal Singh Ji
(Barhu Sahib) and Chief Khalsa Diwan for Nishkam social service.
On the occasion
of its 104th Foundation Day, the Chief Khalsa Diwan, Amritsar
takes pride in honouring S.Ujagar Singh for his contribution in
various fields, especially the sikh Panth.
