Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School (C.K.D.), Golden Avenue, the pride of Amritsar, established in March 1990. The school has attained the status of one of the most prestigious institutions of the city with a strong system of education. It owes its existence and growth due to the unflagging and strenuous efforts of the management, the principal and a team of highly competent faculty.

Aims & Objectives:-

•  To create a congenial environment of learning which keeps pace with the emerging needs of the society and to develop among the students community the best skills and values that will allow them to unfold their full potential.

Campus :-

The School has a modern, ideal and enviable campus, an excellent infrastructure comprising of 50 airy and spacious class-rooms including Manager's office, Principal's office, Reception counter and staff rooms. The School has a computer lab. With eight multimedia computers, a big hall, open spacious playground. The School is situated at very calm, quiet and posh colony that seems quite beneficial to give pleasant environment to students for study.

Facilities:-

Hot-cases in all the classes, water coolers with water purifier appliances on all the floors, generators, and two school vans are also available. We take pride in the spacious library which is comprehensive in itself. Apart from text books, there are encyclopedias, magazines, newspapers and periodicals. The school always fulfills the demands of the needy students. As the school has an old book bank which provides the old books to the students, who are unable to buy new ones. The fee concession is also there for the children who are rich in studies but poor in finance. To make study practical, projector is also used in the classrooms.

Teaching staff and pupils :-

The dedicated and well qualified team of 60 teachers has been recruited for conducting excellent academic activities in the institute. The school started leaping towards its goal right from the day of its inception. At present the strength of the school is more than 1350 students.

Sports Facilities:-

For the all round development and physical fitness of students multifarious activities are undertaken. The school has well maintained sports ground and facilities for games such as hand ball, basketball, badminton, athletics etc. as well as various indoor games like table tennis, skating, badminton, fencing, yoga, gymnastics, Taekwando and Judo are provided. Special coaches are appointed for both indoors and outdoors games. Students participated at the State and National levels. Three students have been selected. Badminton team stood second at the State level.

Co-Curricular Activities:-

The students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities which include Art & craft, debate, declamation contest, exhibitions, dramas, light & sound show, quiz competitions, singing and dancing etc. The school has a very sound perpetual systems. Special coaches are arranged for school Bhangra group and school band team. Students have been divided into 4 houses. Inter-house competitions are organized time to time. Picnics and educational tours are organized for inculcating a sense of self-discipline, sports of co-operation and self help. The school provides this opportunity to its students. Students got first prize in the quiz competition at the Jalandhar Doordarshan Kendra. Brain gym classes are also organized in the school in which the students won laurels by participating at Mumbai and Chennai.

The school has a beautifully constructed fully A.C. Gurudwara Sahib. Special Kirtan classes and divinity classes are organized here. Our students participated in Divinity and Gurmat Competitions and bring laurels to the School. Our School also has newly built A.C. Play Pen and activity rooms which are full of toys, models, music system, DVD players to make students play and learn new things.

Academic Results:-

Every year our school shows a great excellence of Academic result and this is the reason that school touches the peak of success day by day. The students who pass X std. face the new glories and achievements, where a bright future always wait for them. In the session 2007 08, 33 students appeared in the C.B.S.E. board and 7 students got merit. The highest score was 93%.

At present, Chief Khalsa Diwan is running a free school, under the School Management, for poor and deserving children who suffer worst negligence at the hands of society. Along with the study, free books and uniforms are also provided. A free computer centre was also started where the poor students can get knowledge of the most advanced technology.

We are trying our best to provide an environment to the students to inspire them to excel and achieve greater heights with flying colours in their life.
